Spring Ideas for First Grade

I found this adorable bunny in glasses pop art project through Pinterest.

When I followed the pin to the website, I found that it was in French and I thought that French site was the original source of the bunny craft.   I have since been told by a few other teachers on Instagram that the “Fun Easter Bunny Craft” was a freebie from Teach Starter.  I have updated this post with the link directly to Teach Starter.  The craft can easily be download from there!   You can CLICK HERE for their post, a tutorial video, and the templates.
To make the eyeglasses, I just googled eyeglass outlines and printed them on bright colored paper.
I completed my display with the writing prompt freebie below!

I hope you enjoy the freebie.  Here are a few other spring themed resources for you to check out.

Google translated the French page enough for me to see that there was an original blog that this pattern came from. On that blog, the teacher put her students into groups and gave them each one piece of the bunny's head. They then assembled them like a puzzle to make one rabbit. There is also a template for the glasses on both of those blogs (same template). So interesting to see how the original blogger did hers. She actually created the rabbit template from a print she saw on pinterest.

Thanks for this post because I am even more fascinated by the inspiration and how you transformed it into an art & craft activity and a creative writing response activity! 2-fers are great in any subject(s) and age-levels!!!

🌻Sunflower Classroom Decor Room Tour🌻 This was my 🌻Sunflower Classroom Decor Room Tour🌻

This was my room decor before the pastels. It worked well to incorporate my old farmhouse items (my decor theme before that) and as a bonus it made my Ukrainian students smile (the sunflower is the national flower of the Ukrainian).

Save and use leftover colored copies as dividers. This makes them less bulky, than if you had used binder clips.
When you near the end of the week, pull the papers from the tray and sort into the weekday drawers and centers.

Probably a little late to this Kinda Chic trend bu Probably a little late to this Kinda Chic trend but I am old 😂.
Yes, I still dress up everyday. I only wear sneakers on dress down days or for field trips, but I am not going to judge you for what you wear. I have seen teachers running after kids, so I get wearing sneakers to work. I love shopping, plus dresses are just more flattering and easier for me to wear.

I have always had a very organized and clearly labeled classroom. That is my calm. Some FB ladies have said it is too busy but it works for me. I have never seen a kid getting distracted by it, there is so much more to distract them…like other kids.

I started small group weight training classes @elevationfitnessli in March of 2025 and have been going regularly. I enjoy meeting and becoming friendly with the other teachers at our 4:30 classes. I also love that I can see physical changes as well. Pull-ups are so hard but I am proud of my progress.

I still love teaching after 24 years. I don’t love how it has become harder than it was when I started (bigger class sizes, more behaviors, more curriculum to cover, etc.) but I still love connecting with my students and helping them grow. We can retire at 55 years old, as a tier 4 teacher, and I think I will be ready then to go. I am lucky that I have been able to stay in the same grade for almost all of those 24 years!

I have been a TpT seller since 2008 and a blogger since 2011! Thank you all who have been with me over the years and welcome new teacher friends!
