My Seed to Plant Project and Sort of Visual Plans for the Week

I am off next week for Spring Break.  When we get back, I would like to start planning for our plant unit.  I decided to revamp my My Seed to Plant Project packet.  I added some crafts to go with read alouds and the “Seed to Plant Observation Log.”  Click below to check it out on TpT.  Re-download if you purchased this packet last year!

For directions on how to make the newspaper seed cups, check out Garden of Eden’s post here!

This donation letter can be free in my plans download 🙂

These two crafts are extension activities meant to be used after reading How Does Groundhog’s Garden Grow by Lynne Cherry.

This sunflower craft is an extension activity to be used after reading Sunflower House by Eve Bunting or This is a Sunflower by Lola M. Schaefer.

On to my plans for the week…

As you can see, these are not my usual plans, but I did not want to leave you hanging.  I also hope to hit the gym and meet up with friends.  I just did not want to put it in writing and overcommit for my week of non-commitments.

BTW – I am no expert on DoJo but DeeDee inspired me to check it out.  I think it will be good for the one credit course I am teaching.

You can click the plans to download and grab the freebie.   Have a great week!

I am glad that I am not the only one who has not finished up her taxes!! My plant unit is right after spring break, too. One of my favorites! This year I am looking for a small shelf unit to put on the counter in front of one of my windows, so I can grow things I have not been able to, because I have not had enough room.

How long do you work on a given set of plans each week?

We are doing a Plant Unit a few weeks after spring break and this looks awesome. I love your plans. Wish I could sleep late but with two little ones running around those days are gone. Still going to enjoy Spring Break and maybe even sneak in a few naps with the kiddos.

family first think anything not based on economic reality is doomed to failure. Whether it’s farming, mining, tourism or small business, it is a truism that capital goes where it is made welcome and stays where it gets looked after. And whilst Australia is indeed blessed with abundant natural resources, Australia’s real wealth is not beneath the ground, it is between the ears! family first believes property rights, free markets, voluntary arrangements and effective safety nets provide the best opportunity for Australia and Australians to prosper.

📚 Back-to-school magic starts with the right read- 📚 Back-to-school magic starts with the right read-alouds!
These are my absolute favorite first-week books for building classroom community, easing those first-day jitters, and setting a positive tone from day one.
From Our Class is a Family, All Are Welcome, The Book of Rules, and so many more — these stories never miss.

Which one is a must-read in your classroom? Drop it in the comments and I will send you the links to my follow up activities!

I know I am next for a new student (I have 24 kids and everyone else has 25), so I am holding off until the night before the first day. I wish I could just wait but I like modeling where their bags and mail goes, both of which are set up using numbers.

True story: One year on the first day, I had a no show. Then I was assigned a new student. That student fit perfectly in the alphabetical order spot that was left. I should have played the lottery or something. What were the odds of that?!

5 things that are worth the money for your classro 5 things that are worth the money for your classroom!

1. A color printer. We don’t have color printers at school and this has saved me from having to remember to print something at home. I brought in mine from home and then bought a new one for home.
2. MacBookAir - This is my personal laptop. I bring it home on weekends and holidays but for the most part I keep it at school. I did need approval to get it on our district WiFi, which meant my phone could not also be on the WiFi. There is a one device per teacher rule.
3. A lay-flat binder for my plan book, dismissal binder, and sub binder. These save so much space and they are flexible.
4. A laminator at school and a laminator at home. It took me many years before I caved and bought another one but again, it saves me from remembering to laminate at home and I can also laminate during snack time and preps. Matte laminating is also worth the splurge.
5. My teacher toolbox! This toolbox has been with me for over 10 years, I just change out the labels to go with my decor theme. Everything has a place and it keeps my desk organized.

Save and use leftover colored copies as dividers. This makes them less bulky, than if you had used binder clips.
When you near the end of the week, pull the papers from the tray and sort into the weekday drawers and centers.
