Vegas Recap and a Giveaway!

I am finally getting around to my big Vegas post.  I was waiting until we had all the sponser links from our big blogger meet up on Wednesday.  Natalie of What the Teacher Wants worked so hard on the photos and credits.  I hope your read on and enter the giveaway!
Me and my blog buddies having fun with Paul Edelman!
Our hotel room!  Could not resist participating in the Blog Hoppin’ scavenger hunt!
My hotel roomies and me: Amanda Nickerson, Katie Mense, and Cheryl Saoud.
Outside the Venetian
I presented on Tuesday for the I Teach 1st Conference for SDE.
Here are some of the lovely attendees!  Someone even asked where my dog Niles was.  I loved that she knew the name of my dog from following me on Instagram and on my blog.   The attendees were so focused and kind.  My initial nerves were soon settled.   If you attended, I made up a post of links and freebies HERE.

After presenting, I met up with some lovely teachers for dinner!

Back Row: Deanna Jump, Rachelle Smith, Kim Adsit, Hope King, Elizabeth Hall, Deedee Wills, & sweet her coworker.
Middle: Me, Tanya Solano, Amanda Nickerson, & Kim Jordano
Bottom Row: Cheryl Saoud, Kelly Bumgardner, Katie Mense, Diane Schmelzer, & Erin Klein
While in Vegas, I hit the outlets via limo with some more blogging friends!
Me, Amanda, Cheryl, and Tanya

Kaci Hoffer, Katie Mense, Tanya Solano, Crystal Radke, Amanda Nickerson, Cheryl Saoud, & me.  Notice that my outfit is different than the one I left in!

My shopping finds!  I may have went a bit overboard at Tory Burch.  My friend Amanda was right there with me and helped me not feel as guilty!
Tory Burch gave me a free phone case, since I am the only person left with an iphone 4.
Dinner at Serendipity with some blogging beauties: Holly Elhe, Amy Lemons, Hope King, Michelle Oakes, Lindsey Erickson, Amanda Nickerson, Elizabeth Hall, me, & Natalie Kay

Check out my GoNoodle Swag!  I mentioned that I use GoNoodle in one of my SDE presentations and they gave me these goodies.  My students love GoNoodle and after seeing their booth, I am going to upgrade from the free to premium subscription.   You can hide the Frozen song that way!

 Now on to ….

The Huge Blogger Meet UP!!!

Our Teacher Blogger Meet Up was a HUGE success!! It was loud, it was crazy, and it was a completely full house, but that didn’t stop us from having an incredibly fun time.

My job was to hand out tickets at the door.  Tamara Russell gave me the most exuberant welcome ever when she came up to me.  She wasn’t expecting me to be working the door.  She is so sweet.

We took over 200 pictures of the event and there’s no way to showcase them all, but here are a few snapshots of the night.

It was so fun getting to meet some of our online bloggy friends for the very first time! Plus, we got to meet so many teachers from all over the country – we even had teachers from across the world!!
(Shout out to our friends from Spain and Australia!)
*To see more pictures from the meet up, visit the
What the Teacher Wants Facebook Fan Page*
Here are the wonderful ladies who made this meet up possible and helped us line up such amazing sponsors.

How do you handle this situation? Do you put the How do you handle this situation? Do you put the new student at the end of the alphabetical list or do you start over with a new one?
I know I am next for a new student (I have 24 kids and everyone else has 25), so I am holding off until the night before the first day. I wish I could just wait but I like modeling where their bags and mail goes, both of which are set up using numbers.

True story: One year on the first day, I had a no show. Then I was assigned a new student. That student fit perfectly in the alphabetical order spot that was left. I should have played the lottery or something. What were the odds of that?!

5 things that are worth the money for your classro 5 things that are worth the money for your classroom!

1. A color printer. We don’t have color printers at school and this has saved me from having to remember to print something at home. I brought in mine from home and then bought a new one for home.
2. MacBookAir - This is my personal laptop. I bring it home on weekends and holidays but for the most part I keep it at school. I did need approval to get it on our district WiFi, which meant my phone could not also be on the WiFi. There is a one device per teacher rule.
3. A lay-flat binder for my plan book, dismissal binder, and sub binder. These save so much space and they are flexible.
4. A laminator at school and a laminator at home. It took me many years before I caved and bought another one but again, it saves me from remembering to laminate at home and I can also laminate during snack time and preps. Matte laminating is also worth the splurge.
5. My teacher toolbox! This toolbox has been with me for over 10 years, I just change out the labels to go with my decor theme. Everything has a place and it keeps my desk organized.
