I love your ideas because they are perfect for first grade without scaring them. Even though that day is etched in my mind forever, I know my students don't have a clue about 9/11/01. They weren't even born yet and we are in Colorado, so far from NYC. I think writing letters to people who serve our country is an excellent way to approach it. Thanks for sharing, Erica!
