New Year’s Teaching Ideas and Freebies

New Year's Teaching Ideas and Freebies

Happy New Year! School resumes for me on Tuesday! I have prepared some New Year themed activities that I will be doing with my first grade students. I am sharing them with you, too, including ONE HUGE freebie.

I start each day with my Google Slides. I use these templates to create thematic slides each week. The slides I make each week include an unpacking and packing up checklist, the date, what special we are going to, our lunch choices, a word of the day, a question of the day, phonics fun or grammar, math talk, a read aloud, a comprehension activity, a YouTube video relating to the topic, a brain break, and a snack timer. I have made my slides for the New Year in a format that I could share with all of you. You can grab them for free by joining my mailing list. Don’t worry, I still teach full time, so I really don’t email often.

Here is a preview of the slides, they are totally free for you HERE:

Here are my favorite New Year’s themed books that I utilize with my slides, you can click the image to check them out on Amazon:

Each day back, I plan to do a New Year’s themed craft with my students. Here are a few of the crafts we plan to do:
