We have 24 days left of school, summer still seems so far away! This summer I have big plans!
1. As soon as school ends, head to Fire Island for some R&R with the family and my dogs.
2. Go to VEGAS and present for SDE and TpT!!
3. Keep at my gym routine!
4. Start a personal blog a la Rachelle Smith! I love how she is inspiring people everywhere to get healthy! I need ideas for a blog name.
5. Foster more animals. Yes, it is hard to give them up but think about how their lives would be if you did not step up to foster.
This is one of my sweet foster kittens, Olivia.
6. Finish up my house! I have so many undecorated, unfinished rooms!
Those curtains have been on that desk for over a month!
7. Visit with friends! I see my college roommate and her kids every summer, they live in West Chester and come down to visit and enjoy the water. I also need to see my Goddaughter more! She lives in NYC but it just seems we don’t get to see each other enough.
Christine, me, and Avery. She was not enjoying the boat ride. As soon as we docked, she said that was great let’s go again!
Avery asked her mom if she could keep my “kitty.”

8. Get on the water! I am always enjoying the Great South Bay here on Long Island. We have beautiful beaches and amazing summers. I always have a great time with family, friends, and my dogs.
9. Read! I love reading. I just finished The Fault in Our Stars. I loved it. I also love reading on my Kindle Paperwhite!!
10. Accept my singleness. This trying to meet someone is a sad business. I decided to go back to online dating last month and put myself out there on two sites! It has not been fun. The majority of guys who write to me are in their 50s! It really just makes me feel worse about myself. Like I am a subpar person because I am still single. Honestly, the more guys I meet, the more I would rather be single. The pool gets very shallow when you are 35. Maybe if I stop trying, I won’t be disappointed.

That sounds like an awesome summer! I plan on getting a lot of reading done as well. 🙂 I agree with Stacy…you are definitely NOT sub par! I also recently went through "that stage" and it really can get you down, but once the school year started, it all seems to go away when those little ones really need you. Last summer, I ended up joining the online dating site, E-Harmony, however, it definitely required me to suck up all my pride and preconceived notions about online stuff. A lot of my teacher friends have done it before and keep encouraging me to just give it a try. So, long story short, it really allowed me to "sift" through the jerks and find a keeper! Been together almost a year now and going strong! 🙂 I know online dating isn't for everyone, but ya never know unless you give it a try! Best of luck to you!

Thanks Brandi, I am doing the online dating now and I hate it! Just don't like anyone who writes to me, the majority of them are guys my parents age! EWW! When I do go on a date, I am just disappointed and I self-sabotage so they don't like me.
Brandi Guerra
Oh goodness! That's how EH was at first too! I was being matched with guys that were at least 10-15 years older than me. It took a while before I actually found a good one. I completely understand about the self-sabotage thing. I used to do the same thing! In order for me to get out of my rut, it sounds kind of silly but I just started thinking that I couldn't "count my chickens before they hatched." I had to begin with a no expectations mindset so I wouldn't get my hopes up, self-sabotage, or be left disappointed if it didn't work out, ya know? Don't get discouraged! You never know when something great will happen…keep your head up! Just like I tell my kiddos, I'm here to listen whenever you need to talk! Teachers gotta stick together! 🙂

Girl, I feel your pain. I just turned 41, and being patient on God to bring the right one is hard. I tried online dating and hated it as well, so I stopped. Most of my friends are married with children. I love that you want to foster more animals! I have fostered quite a few dogs, and it is always so rewarding.

Hi Erica! Your Summer bucket list was very inspiring and interesting! Everything will fall into its right place at the right time. Just keep the faith. Why don't you try traveling to a new country? Who knows, you might meet the one you're looking for in a foreign land.

Hi Erica! I enjoy reading your blog! I just wanted to share that I understand how hard online dating is…you think you know what someone is going to be like, but in the end, it's much easier to gauge chemistry and interest in person instead of over the phone or over the computer. After my divorce, I tried dating sites and was totally disappointed (I'm sure it works for some, but not for me) and then I met my now husband at a bar one night, when I decided to go myself (eek!) to check out a good band. So sometimes it pays to just put yourself out there…I was not looking that night and I found him. 🙂 Good luck, and have a GREAT summer! (And maybe we'll meet at the TpT conference?)

Oh honey, Mr. Right will come along when you least expect it…and he'll thank his lucky stars he found you. 🙂 Enjoy your summer!!

What great adventures you have planned. Just remember with online dating you don't have to date the 50 year olds. I met my husband that way and I went through plenty of DUDS before I found the DUDE 🙂

I feel your pain sweet friend about online dating. Been on a few and have been so frustrated and irritated with it. I've come to the conclusion that I might be single for the rest of my life. It just seems like a good pool of men in our age rage are very few and far between. I thought about joining again, but decided forget it! Your bucket list seems pretty fun and exciting. Wish I could go to the TPT conference in Vegas and meet you! Blessings to you! I know you will rock it!

Don't give up on the online dating Erica! I was 37 and back on Match.com for the second time when I met my husband. Seven years and two little boys later and I couldn't be happier. I met a lot of guys who were not the one but the right one was out there. You seem like an amazing person. Fingers crossed the right guy crosses your path!

I second the not giving up on online dating. I've been doing eharmony.com and match.com on and off for 8 years. I'm happy to say that I'm leaving my job this year in Boston to move to Chicago to be with my boyfriend, whom I met on eharmony.com. I think it took me 8 years because I was looking only for "crazy chemistry" instead of someone I could build a future with. Best of luck!
