Happy Hedgehog Decor {Carson-Dellosa Giveaway}

This past February, I was honored to be one of the six bloggers chosen for the Carson-Dellosa 2015 Blogger Summit. We all worked on different Carson-Dellosa decor lines. It was a dream job! I always love the staff at Carson-Dellosa and I love designing classrooms. Plus, I got to hang with these lovely blogging ladies. I was so excited to see Erin, Cheryl and Denise again and it was my first time meeting Rachel and Kristen! They are both so sweet.

I decided to focus on the burlap and red colors for this set. I threw a little bit of green in there with the chair pockets and the grass border on the desk.

The desk above has Calypso letters backed with red card stock to make them pop off the white desk.

What’s hedgehog decor without a reference to Jan Brett?!

For pencil management, I always have my students trade in pencils. The unsharpened pencils are in the mason jar above with the red polka dots, the sharpened pencils are in the jar with the solid burlap ribbon. Hedgehog bookmarks are displayed in a smaller mason jar with red and white polka dot ribbon.

I layered red and white polka dot ribbon over the edge of the table and the chair pockets. I hot glued the ribbon around the chair pockets and used burlap string to hold them on the chairs. I trimmed the table in burlap ribbon and then layered the polka dot ribbon over it. A tiny garbage pail is on the table for easy clean up. Of course this table is just for show and would probably only fit one child, but don’t let that throw you off. You can easily make the chair pockets with ribbon accents. You can use ribbon to accent book shelves, student mailboxes, tables, bins, and more!

Do you have to do a focus wall in your classroom? It is not a requirement for me, but I think it is an important use of bulletin board space. It is a great way to remind your students of their learning goals. Carson-Dellosa has an awesome “Focus Wall” kit, all the headers and large posters are in there ready to use. I just typed up some of the small signs using the Calypso paper as a background!
