My sweet friend DeeDee shares her visual plans each week and it is a huge hit with her followers. I decided to try and share my plans for the week with you. I cannot promise this will be every week but I will try.
First, my lesson plan template can be purchased through Ms. M’s blog. They are aptly called, “Erica.“
My district still uses a basal reading series. We have moved to just using the reading series as a guide for our phonics and spelling words and don’t follow the manual. So that is why Daniel’s Mystery Egg is thrown in there messing up my winter theme for the week. I pull for guided reading during center time. Those plans are on a separate page and I did not include them in this post. For more on guided reading, check out my packet on TpT by clicking here.

Thank you for posting these. It is really helpful to see how other people plan their days. Happy 2013!

You are welcome Cecilia! Thanks for all your comments lately 🙂

It is so neat seeing others schedules. I'm surprised you don't have time scheduled for science of social studies. I'm sure it is infused in your reading/math but we have to have a time and block for it for each day. I loved how you linked up all your packets! You're an amazing teacher! Have a fun week!

I don't have a specific block, but I do it with the afternoon lesson or during guided reading. Def. not everyday. Next week's theme will be penguins and that will be my science and writer's workshop. It is very hard to fit everything in.

Wow, I love how you added the links to show the products and tools that you are using. That's awesome! The visual display of your plans is great. I use an online planning service, but I am more motivated to try include some of the templates that you have included like the sight word section. Thanks for a great post!

Oh my goodness. I am SUCH a visual person and this is amazing! This is my first year teaching first grade (taught SPED prior) and I knew I wanted to do something in this kind of format, but my plans are bare bones compared to this. Love it! Thank you so much for sharing! Really appreciate it and your time. Hope your week is great! ~Sonia

You are a rockstar girl! Love it.

Thanks Michelle! You and DeeDee gave me the push I needed to try this 🙂

Have you liked having specials in the mornings? Do your kiddos last till 12 usually without saying they are starving? I have never seen a teacher have specials in the mornings! I would love to hear your thoughts and personal opinion on that! Thanks 🙂
Erica Bohrer
I HATE specials in the morning. This has been the most stressful year ever. The kids come in and I have to rush them to unpack and start morning job. They never finish it in time. You are right they are all really hungry by lunch.
Sally
Erica, do you do discovery based learning? Investigations play? It's huge in Australia, in particular the area I teach in. I'm hoping to blog more and more about it as the year goes on. We haven't officially started school yet here in Australia. I would love to hear your opinions on it.

No, I don't know what those are. I will hop by your blog and check it out. When does school start in Australia? I have noticed an increase in sales of my decor packs, so I assume it is soon.

Sally,
We do it in NE for for Science and SS but we call it "Inquiry Based Learning" different name same song. 🙂

Hi Erica,
I love your plans! We have such a similar day. I have my special in the morning, and I teach Kindergarten.
I have your packet on guided reading, and truly love it! I have sent many of grade level partners to your store to check it out.
I also really like your lesson plan template. I am looking for a new template for plans, and I really like the layout of yours.
Thanks!

Hi Erica! Do you have an editable version/template of your lesson plans? I love your format and have been looking for something like that! 🙂 Just wanted to ask! 🙂

I LOVE the links in the lesson plans!!! I used to do that for my own personal assistance (hahaha), but to see that I am NOT the only one is super exciting!! I got made fun of where I worked, but I took it in stride…whatever helped me to stay ahead was NOTHING to be ashamed of in my book..haha
I love you creativity & giving heart!!
I am leaving a lovely quote on posts I respond to today…Have a great rest of the week!!

Erica, you are incredible. You seriously are. I hope to be as flippin awesome as you are one day 🙂 thanks so much for sharing your adorable plans. I love how visually appealing they are! My district uses something called "OnCourse". It is basically an online lesson plan book. It allows our principal to check our weekly plans, but it is soooo obnoxious. It's offline half the time and you can only put your plans in at certain times of the day and there is a WORD LIMIT. Eeeeek! I've never been one to limit my words, so it's a challenge haha Love that freebie! Thanks a ton!
Julie Marciniak
Erica, I love the template that Ms. M created for you! I have been working with something similar for years but the page count is too high! My weekly plans print 8 pages! Yikes! So you have inspired me to either redesign my current template, or take the higher route and get my own design from Ms. M!
You mentioned the basal readers in your plans…Harcourt? Me too! Can't wait to for our district to move on to something current and aligned to today's teaching expectations for English Language Arts!
Thanks so much for sharing your creativity!

Erica – thanks for sharing.
It was nice to see how another first grade teacher plans their week and just what are others doing around the u.s.! I certainly didn't need them to plan my week, but they were validating in many ways! I may not blog or sell on TPT (I buy enough, but seeing what others do can make you feel good as teacher, that I am doing well.
I love your products – keep them coming!
It's easy to see your great teacher and I bet your kiddos love you!
Happy New Year!

Hey! I just found your blog and I LOVE it :). I have a 2 1/2 year old and we've just started 'tot school' and i've very interested in learning to make her printables and other things. We're trying to decide which software would be beneficial to invest in. Would you mind sharing which one you use? We currently have photoshop cs6 but I think that's more than we need. Thank you so much for your recommendation!
